PREREQUISITES

The SSI National Standards requires that before you begin the program you must have fulfilled certain pre-requisites :-

• These include :
  A current medical certificate obtained with the last 3 months
  Must be over 14 years of age.
  Must be able to complete a 200 metre swim without the use of aids and tread water for 10 minutes.

EQUIPMENT

As part of your fee we supply all the equipment you will need throughout the pool training and ocean dives. The equipment supplied is the finest available. It is our intention to ensure that every aspect of your safety and comfort is taken into consideration. While all the equipment is supplied, you will need to purchase your own snorkelling equipment (mask, fin, snorkel and boots) due to individual requirements of fit, comfort and hygiene. These items are of a personal nature and are relatively inexpensive. We will offer you a special discount on any equipment purchase during the program and for a 7 days period after the completion of the program. We are more than happy to offer advice and assistance in your selection to suit your individual needs from our comprehensive range.

MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS

Your continued health and well being is your most valuable asset. Diving is a demanding sport and can at times require you to call on all your reserves of skill and energy. To ensure you are in a fit and healthy state to undertake Scuba diving, a diving medical must be obtained from a qualified diving doctor. The diving doctor will check/assess your important organs such as lungs and the cardiovascular system and examine existing medical conditions that may prevent otherwise fit people from diving, eg. asthma, diabetes, history of heart illness etc.
Therefore, it is vital that you undergo a diving medical before you commence your training program.
