Hero's Cave

Site layout:
-In the centre of the Main Shipping Channel, the reef drops from 20 metres down to 60+metres -A large cave is at about 26 metres -This heads back into the Bay and exits in the top of the reef

Points of interest:
-Hero's cave is adorned in beautiful sponges and soft corals -Long kelp attracts all kinds of fish to the area, seldom do divers not spot something different and unusual. -Huge crayfish stand guard over this site but because of depth and time they are very elusive.

Bottom composition: Heavy kelp and weed, dotted with corals and sponges. Big rock ledges and the cave.
Water movement/currents: Care needs to be shown when diving that divers are over the reef area and not over the wall when finishing their dive, as strong currents changing to an ebb, push the swimmer down deeper.
Hazards: Strong currents, depth and time restrictions caused by the length of slack water.
