Quarantine Bay extends from the old Cattle jetty off Point Nepean to Portsea pier
Points of interest:
-Passenger & livestock carrying vessels were required to spend time here in Quarantine before
they were allowed to unload
-Threw all their rubbish overboard
-Their rubbish has become our treasure; old plates, cups, bottles - many rare & valuable
bottles have been collected here
-Admiralty anchor
-Car tyres in bundles - attempt at man made reef
-Occasional pods of dolphins swim by
-Seals sometimes visit the area
Bottom composition: Undulating, bare sandy bottom
Water movement/currents: Best time to dive is after a storm as this stirs up the bottom
revealing new treasures. Best dived on Flood Tide: From Old Cattle jetty over towards Portsea pier.
Hazards: Live Ammunition - don't pick up
